SPEND, SPEND, SPEND

Got an email from my local authority. They do that from time to time to justify their worthless existence and make excuses for wasting my money.

Among other things it  says:

“Over the next four years we’re proposing spending:

  • £105 million on the highways network
  • £25 million on supporting housing and homelessness
  • £14.7 million on climate change and flood management projects
  • £37.6 million on town centre regeneration and economic growth”

Let’s have a little look at that:

£105 million on the highways network

  • That should include a contribution of £30 million from project HS2 – they’re the ones that have done their best to destroy the A and B roads in Southern England. For the purpose of a railway from nowhere to nowhere which nobody will use.
  • A contribution of £30 million from the housing developers who keep throwing up new slave camps of over-priced sub-standard boring houses without any associated road infrastructure. Nearly all of these new projects have one in/out road and that’s it. So, rush hour and school run time, it’s just a wonderland of snarled up traffic. An upgrade to the infrastructure is long overdue.

£25 million on supporting housing and homelessness

  • Can’t see why, you’ve already got more slave camps than you can possibly need.

£14.7 million on climate change and flood management projects

  • At least £10 million of that should come from the housing developers, it is the uncontrolled run-off from the projects built on the flood plain that is causing the problem.

£37.6 million on town centre regeneration and economic growth

  • You were the clowns that licensed all the out-of-town shopping malls and commercial estates, only accessible by car. You killed the high street, now you want it back. Talk to the supermarket chains.
