I’m sick of hearing the word “misogynist”.
Currently, it is being widely misused.
The word derives from the Greek “misos”, meaning hatred and “gune”, meaning woman.
The current crop of “Misogynists” don’t hate women. They’re terrified of them.
These are undeveloped little boys who cannot deal with the opposite sex and resort to a prolonged tantrum that would disgrace a three-year-old.
Re-reading this, I should not have put “the opposite sex”, it should just have been: “sex in general, in whatever form, with the consenting adult lifeform of your choice”.
Admittedly, men have an inner seven-year-old, we all do, that we learn to handle and cope with. It makes us buy silly, unnecessary man-toys and sometimes goads us to become chairmen and CEOs of large companies in an attempt to assuage the uncertain vulnerability of the seven-year-old.
We will never understand women. Nor should we try.
We should admire and accept the skill set and experience they bring to the party. Hopefully they will treat our contribution with matching respect.
So, reserve the word for those who genuinely hate women. There must be one or two out there.
For the rest, please find a new word.
And don’t use “phobia”, that’s another grossly misused word and comes nowhere near capturing the underlying immaturity of these creeps.
